A selfie as a health check? AI detects health risks and biological age from a facial photo
Researchers have developed an AI model designed to do more than estimate biological age from a simple facial photo. It also aims to identify health risks, including the potential risk of cancer. Below, we take a closer look at how far the model and its accompanying app have progressed and how well the technology actually works.
Overall, the researchers were allowed to evaluate the AI model on around 43,000 cancer patients. A separate test was then conducted on 3,820 patients. The model classified 122 of them as belonging to the highest-risk group.
