Who we are

The Headline Update (https://theheadlineupdate.com) is owned and operated by The Headline Update Media, a Sole proprietorship with its office at B-42, Second Floor, Sector 63, Noida, Gautam Buddh Nagar, Uttar Pradesh 201301, India (“we”, “us”). We are the data fiduciary for the personal data described here. This policy follows the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023, the Information Technology Act, 2000 and the rules made under them.

What we collect

Details you give us: your name, email address, phone number, city, and anything you write in our contact, contribution, review, newsletter or ad-booking forms. For ad bookings we also collect your business name, GSTIN if you provide it, and the web address your ad should link to.
Payment information: payments are processed by our RBI-authorised payment partner. We receive a confirmation and a transaction reference. We never receive or store your card number, CVV, UPI PIN or net-banking password.
Technical information: like every website, our server records IP addresses, browser type and the pages requested, to keep the site secure and fix errors. Form submissions also record the IP address and browser, to stop spam.

We do not knowingly collect personal data from children under 18. If you are under 18, please ask a parent or guardian before contacting us.

How we use it

To reply to your messages, complaints and correction requests.
To review contributions and reviews you send, and to publish them with your consent.
To deliver ad bookings, issue invoices and keep accounting records.
To send the newsletter you asked for.
To protect the site from fraud, spam and abuse, and to comply with the law.

We do not sell or rent personal data, and we do not use it to build advertising profiles.

Where data is stored and for how long

Form submissions are stored on our own web server, in a file that cannot be opened from a browser. We keep contact and contribution messages for up to 24 months, newsletter addresses until you unsubscribe, and booking and payment records for as long as Indian tax and accounting laws require (generally up to eight years). Data is then deleted.

Content loaded from other services

Some parts of our pages are loaded from other services: fonts from Google Fonts, photographs that accompany news stories from the publishers’ own servers, the map on our Contact page from Google Maps, and the payment window from our payment partner. These services receive your IP address when your browser requests their content, and handle it under their own privacy policies.

Your rights

Under the Digital Personal Data Protection Act, 2023 you can ask us to give you a summary of the personal data we hold about you, correct or update it, erase it when it is no longer needed, and nominate another person to exercise these rights if you are unable to. Write to contact@theheadlineupdate.com from the address you used with us. We respond within 30 days.

Security

We use HTTPS encryption, restrict access to stored data and keep our software up to date. No system is completely secure; if a breach affects your personal data, we will inform you and the Data Protection Board of India as the law requires.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The date at the top shows the latest version, and significant changes are announced on our homepage.
